Magnesium effective in depression

Magnesium is one of the most essential minerals required by the human body. If a (long-term) deficiency occurs, the symptoms include neuromuscular and psychiatric symptoms.

The causes are (hidden) malnutrition, problems with absorption, extreme practice of sports and increased excretion by the kidneys, for example as a result of alcoholism and diabetes. The body also excretes higher levels of magnesium during stressful periods. In your depressed client it is therefore always important to consider a magnesium deficiency as a potential cause of the problems.
